TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - The man convicted of planting and detonating two pipe bombs on Florida A&M University’s campus in 1999 was denied an appeal for a reduced sentence on Thursday.

An appeals court upheld a lower court’s ruling, denying Lawrence Lombardi’s request for a shorter sentence.

Lombardi argued in the appeal that he was eligible for a reduced sentence because he is a “zero-point offender” and his “single criminal history point was assigned in error.”

According to court documents, Lombardi was resentenced to 54 years nearly five years ago after a separate 2019 U.S. Supreme Court decision led to his convictions on two of the six charges being tossed out.
