SARASOTA, Fla. ( WWSB ) - The lawyer for the girlfriend of the suspect in the May 2024 shooting outside a Sarasota hookah lounge has withdrawn a request to lower her bond, court records show.

Nicole Roberts is charged with being an accessory to second-degree murder and tampering with evidence . Both charges carry a $250,000 bond.

Roberts was arrested May 31, 2024 after investigators allege she helped her boyfriend, Darryl Brookins, who is charged with murder and attempted murder in connection with the early morning shootings that killed Tommie Battie IV and wounded his brother, Auburn University running back Brian Battie.

Roberts is accused of driving Brookins away from the shooting scene and helping him dispose of the murder weapon in the Manatee River.
