An investigation is underway after a man died while in the custody of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.
Michael Mancilla, a 42-year-old man from Paramount, died Thursday shortly after 8:45 p.m., the SBSD said in a news release.
At that time, he'd been handcuffed by deputies after they were called to his property in the 7500 block of Guthrie Street in Highland due to Mancilla's "acting erratically."
When deputies got there, Mancilla was "rolling on the ground," and they cuffed him and sat him against a wall, at which point he became unreponsive.
Despite CPR from the deputies and the assistance of emergency medical personnel, Mancilla was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
His death remains under investigation, and an autopsy will determine his cause of death.
