MARLBORO COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) -- Human remains found in Marlboro County were identified as a Scotland County man who reported missing almost two years ago.
Officials said a Laurinburg man has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with is death.
The remains of Shelton Bennett of Laurel Hill were found on Aug. 1 on a vacant farm in the Adamsville area, according to Coroner De'Aron "Dee" M. Smith. Smith said the identity was determined using "comprehensive forensic analysis and investigative procedures."
Frederick Dashawn Moore, 33, was taken into custody on Wednesday and charged with first-degree murder in Bennett's killing, the Scotland County Sheriff's Office said.
He appeared before a judge Thursday morning and was not given bond.
