FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - A man who faced a murder charge in connection to a 2023 killing at a local hotel was found not guilty Friday.

According to William Lebrato, chief public defender of Allen County, a jury in Allen Superior Court found Tommy L. Gray not guilty of the homicide, which stemmed from a fight involving 20 workers at the Red Roof Inn on West Coliseum Boulevard Dec. 9, 2023. A Chicago man, 26-year-old Keelin Woods, died after a shooting at the hotel.

Court documents detail what led to the shooting: two groups of workers - one from Chicago and another from Louisville - were working at the hotel that day. Gray was with the Kentucky crew, and Woods was with the Chicago crew.
