A woman was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a vehicle in southwest Calgary on Friday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of 26 Avenue SW and 34 Street SW around 1:35 p.m. for reports of a crash.

A woman was taken to hospital in serious but stable condition, according to EMS. Another patient was checked out by paramedics but wasn’t taken to hospital.

Police say the driver remained at the scene.

Police say 26 Avenue SW is shut down between 33 Street and 35 Street SW for the investigation.

Motorists are being asked to avoid the area.
