TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced this week that he’s pushing for a new law to prevent sex predators from “obtaining kids.”
In a social media post on Thursday, Uthmeier declared that he would be proposing the “Protecting Kids from Predators Pursuing Parenthood Act” to accomplish just that.

“Children should not bear the risk of being handed over to predators or abusers, whether through surrogacy, adoption, or foster care,” the post reads.
During his announcement, Uthmeier pointed to a case out of Pennsylvania where a couple reportedly used surrogacy to obtain a child.
