The body of 15-year-old Aaron Ramirez was found Friday morning, ending a days-long search after a deadly crash into the California Aqueduct near Patterson. Ramirez was last seen traveling with his father, Raul Ramirez, who is believed to have suffered a heart attack before their SUV veered off I-5 and into the canal early Tuesday. Raul was found deceased at the scene. Search efforts were complicated by water conditions and limited diver access. Aaron’s body was discovered by a family member two miles downstream from the crash site. The family had pleaded for expanded search efforts, including help from experienced diver Juan Heredia, who was denied access to the water.
