ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A man has been sentenced to 30 to 50 years for stabbing his girlfriend, according to the Cherokee County district attorney.
The district attorney said Juan Jose Alfaro-Gonzalez stabbed his girlfriend in their Ball Ground home on Dec. 30, 2024. He also reportedly tried to kill himself, but survived.
According to the district attorney, a witness tried to stop the assault, but Alfaro-Gonzalez swung at him. The woman received 16 stab wounds, but survived. She is still recovering.
Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Rachel Ashe said, “This defendant violently attacked the victim in a relentless rage, striking with such force that his knife broke from repeated blows. It is clear that he intended to take this woman’s life. The fact that she survived is
