ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Clayton County fire officials are speaking out a week after 12 teenagers were found living inside a church.

Crews were called to Now Faith Apostolic Church on Rex Road last month, where they found the teens, whose ages ranged from 15 to 18. According to emergency officials, the teenagers were living in dormitory-style rooms on the basement level.

During a news conference on Friday, officials said the church violated several fire safety codes, including not having proper alarm systems.

“The scene raised immediate concerns regarding the facility’s occupancy use and fire code compliance,” Clayton County Fire & Emergency Services said in a statement. The church was
