BENTON, Ill. (WSIL) -- Tequilas Mexican Restaurant in Benton, Illinois is permanently closing its doors this weekend.

The restaurant stated their last day will be Saturday, August 9.

The restaurant announced on social media, "With a heavy heart, we are announcing that tomorrow, August 9th, will be our last day open. We all as a staff will miss our regular customers, our new customers, and the ones coming off I-57. We are grateful for your support throughout the years."

The closure marks the end of an era for the local dining scene, impacting both loyal patrons and travelers.
