BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- The Bird's Nest Circus Arts studio is closed for the foreseeable future after an accident that led to the death of one of their owners, the company announced on Friday.

In a statement on social media, the company said co-owner Ashli Gilmour died following an accident with a lift during a rigging adjustment.

Another woman, identified as Katie Loewen, was also injured and hospitalized.

The company asked for support for the families of the two women, "while recognizing that they may need time for themselves."
