SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) -- An injured person was rescued from the Lake Springfield Friday afternoon by Springfield firefighters.

In a Facebook post at 1:06 p.m., Springfield Fire Local 37 said they had crews on the way to a water rescue in the 1900 block of W Lake Shore Drive, which is right on Lake Springfield. The department sent four engines and one truck to the scene.

Officials later shared an update, which said that dispatch had alerted crews to a reported injury in the water, but that there was no concern of anyone drowning. During the water rescue, emergency responders used a life jacket to help the person before they were recovered from the water by a rescue boat and transported via an ambulance to Lindsay Bridge for additional care.
