AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Democrats have continued to stand against Governor Greg Abbott and the state's Republican Party by not attending a vote on the proposed redistricting plan.

The plan aims to increase Republican seats in Congress through newly proposed congressional maps. However, the absence of Democrats prevented a quorum from being reached during the special session.

Despite facing threats of arrest and calls from Governor Abbott for their removal from office, the majority of Democrats chose not to attend. The Texas House plans to reconvene on Monday to try again.
