A Crosslake mother has been sentenced to 39 years in prison for abusing her three children and then defrauded Medicaid by falsely claiming they suffered from various medical conditions.

Jorden Borders, 35, of Crosslake, was sentenced Thursday in Crow Wing County Court. She was found guilty on 11 charges, including attempted murder, child torture, stalking, and theft by false representation, in June following a three-week trial.

Borders was initially charged in late 2022 after authorities learned that she physically, verbally and emotionally abused her children.

The case was referred to the Minnesota Attorney General's Office in early 2024.
