GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - Ahead of 811 Day next week, on August 11th, Green Bay officials use the date as a reminder to the public to call 8-1-1 at least three days prior to any digging projects to have underground utility lines marked.

Green Bay Metro Fire Department and Green Bay Water are teaming up with WPS to say not calling could lead to costly repairs or even serious injuries.

“No matter if you’re planting a garden at your home, installing a fence all the way up to professional construction activities, any digging project needs to start with a call to 811. It helps keep digging area safe, it also helps keep first responders like the Green Bay Metro Fire Department safe so that their crews and firefighters aren’t having to respond to situations that could be hazardous,” said Matt Cu
