ARCHBOLD, Ohio — Nearly 150 Sauder Woodworking employees are out of work after the Fulton County furniture maker announced significant layoffs this week , citing a drop in sales. The cuts reduce the company’s workforce to fewer than 1,000 employees, marking a major loss for one of the county’s top four employers.
“We had to make some adjustments to our employment levels to react to the sales drop,” said Executive Vice President Dan Sauder. “So we have reduced a couple of shifts and we’ve had to reduce our staffing.”
OhioMeansJobs Fulton County is stepping in to help displaced workers. Starting Aug. 11 at 10 a.m., employees can receive free assistance with job searches, unemployment filing, training programs and career planning.
