LORANGER, La. (WAFB) - The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office says a Loranger Middle School student and their parent are facing charges after a BB gun was brought onto school property Friday morning, August 8.

Deputies said a 10-year-old student was booked into the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center on charges of carrying a firearm or dangerous weapon by a student on school property and terrorizing.

The child’s mother, Kristin Hutchinson, 35, was charged with contributing to the delinquency of juveniles and improper supervision of a minor.

According to investigators, around 7:15 a.m., the student was seen waving a gun out of a car window in the morning drop-off line and pointing it at at least one other vehicle. The gun was later confirmed to be a BB gun.
