BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Laura Cating, senior VP of communications with Visit Baton Rouge, says discussions for a hotel addition to the Raising Cane’s River Center have been in the works.

It’s something she says would keep the city competitive with other tourism boards in cities similarly sized to Baton Rouge.

“So, one of the things that convention planners or meeting planners are looking for is all in one when it comes to a facility,” highlighted Cating.

Part of that all-in-one experience is a hotel wing connected to the convention center site.

However, obstacles could make it a challenge.“You know you have some impediments like the Army Corps of Engineers, you have the railroad there, and obviously finding the funding mechanisms,” emphasized Whitney Hoffman Sayal, executive director
