Becher wants team-oriented culture, transparency for unit
In many ways, Evan Becher is just a regular dude.
He played tight end in high school, loves eating buffalo wings, tries to hit the gym every morning at 5 a.m. before work, listens to country music and has a passion for Notre Dame football.
But the new Surprise police chief knows life just won’t be the same for him any longer. He can’t blend into the crowd now that he is in some ways the face of the city.
“There is that component of it where, yeah, I’m the most visible, I’m the most recognizable,” Becher said. “I mean, this position brings a lot of authority and a lot of (politics) to it. I’m well aware of that. I’ve been told that many times, too.”
