A 24-year-old man was sentenced Thursday to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to a deadly shooting while intervening in an argument between two people four years ago at a central Lubbock apartment complex.
Ryan Christian Menegay appeared in court by internet video conference from the Lubbock County Detention Center and pleaded guilty to a count of manslaughter, a second-degree felony that carried a punishment of two to 20 years in prison, as part of a deal with the Lubbock County District Attorney's Office.
He admitted to the Nov. 5, 2021 shooting that killed Christopher Guerra in the 4600 block of 50th Street.
