NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Construction crews are putting the finishing touches on a $36 million expansion of the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex.

Despite recent storms, crews have continued working on the 90-acre expansion, which is expected to open this fall.

“This has been something we’ve been working on for the last probably four or five years, and to see it now almost to fruition is exciting,” said Matt Gibbons, North Myrtle Beach Parks and Recreation Director.

The expansion includes five new soccer fields, six baseball fields, freshwater ponds, walking trails, playgrounds and picnic shelters.
