FAIRFIELD TWP., Ohio (WKBN) - One local school district is changing its policy on charging students to attend athletic events, offering a simple way to boost school spirit and build a more inclusive environment.
All Crestview students will get a pass and get into home athletic events for free. Students in Kindergarten through sixth grade must be with an adult.
"Any time you get an opportunity to get students here to support students, what can be better?" Superintendent Dan Hill said.
The idea came from a girls basketball game last season. Middle school students got a positive behavioral reward to attend for free.
"Our coaches and the opponent's coaches both said that was the best environment they had played in for the entire year," said Athletic Director Casey Bogerd.
