DEXTER, Maine (WABI) - Hot dog! Get ready to snap into a Maine staple this weekend.

Dexter is hosting the 9th annual Red Hot Dog Festival Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday’s festivities start bright and early with the 5K Bun Run at 7:30 a.m. , benefitting Heart of Maine Resource Center.

From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., downtown Dexter will be closed to traffic and full of vendors, live music, and kids’ activities, not to mention a forecast of raining red snappers!

The Red Hot Dog Festival sees about 5,000 to 8,000 people each year from all over.

All funds from the festival go right back into the town through the Dexter Development Association.
