ROCKLAND, Maine (WABI) - Organizers of the Maine Lobster Festival say this year’s event was a strong one.

While they’re still tallying all the numbers, they say they’re thrilled with what they’re seeing so far.

The annual festival took over Rockland last week.

A spokesperson says preliminary numbers show a 13% increase in gross revenue.

Another positive indicator is the tip collection the festival takes at all of its own food and merchandise tents. We’re told that’s up 37%. All of that tip money goes to charity.

Any organizations interested in applying to receive a cut of that money can go to mainelobsterfestival.com and click on “Donations.”

Organizers say while they nearly sold out of lobster and lobster rolls, final food tallies won’t be ready for another couple weeks.
