DOVER-FOXCROFT, Maine (WABI) - The Piscataquis County Jail has resumed operations after the state ordered immediate changes due to health and safety concerns.
Sheriff Bob Young says a comprehensive correction plan has been approved by the Department of Corrections Commissioner.
Earlier this week, the DOC required the jail to immediately stop taking new inmates, return boarded inmates to their original facility, and create a plan of corrective action.
A recent inspection by the DOC found discrepancies in medical records, improper medication management, and that the jail is not following infectious disease protocols.
In a statement Friday, Sheriff Young says:
“The jail is back in business and accepting arrests as we always have done.
