SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The state of South Dakota has a purchase agreement that includes a cash payment of $12.5 million to buy 148 acres in northeast Sioux Falls along Benson Road for a new men's prison, according to a news release from Gov. Larry Rhoden's office.
The agreement is an option to buy, and it will need legislative approval. The Legislature will meet in a special session on Sept. 23.
