FRANKLIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) -- As chain pharmacies shutter, one local shop in Greencastle has reached a historic milestone.

Carl's Drug Store turned 200 years old this month. It's been open since 1825 and is believed to be the oldest continuously operating, independent pharmacy in the country.

"People have been coming to Carl's Drug Store for years and years, decades, but then even generations, because they love and trust knowing that they're going to have a hometown pharmacist," said Dr. Wayne Meyers, owner of the store. "Somebody that's one of them, that loves them and cares about them and serves them well. I have a staff that just loves people and just wants to be around people and care for them."
