Fire crews made progress Thursday on the Dragon Bravo Fire, even as strong and unpredictable winds challenged containment efforts.

The wildfire, which began July 4 from lightning, has burned 134,049 acres and is 36% contained, according to a press release issued by the Southwest Area Complex Incident Management Team. The blaze is burning in mixed conifer, aspen regeneration, ponderosa pine, pinon-juniper and sage.

Friday's forecast includes a Red Flag Warning with gusts up to 40 mph, high temperatures and low humidity, which fire officials say will keep fire activity high and could allow embers to spark spot fires up to a mile away. Winds are expected to decrease this weekend, but low humidity will persist into midweek.
