New Instagram feature shows users’ location

(CNN)– Instagram has rolled-out a new feature that shows a user’s current location.

It’s called Instagram map, and includes an actual map of the U.S. showing where users are active.

It also updates your location every time you use the app.

The change has prompted some users to worry that their location is automatically being shared with the public.

However, Instagram’s parent company Meta says the feature is off unless you turn it on to opt-in to sharing your location.

You can also opt to share it with only specific people.
