A former member of Tulsa Public Schools’ Board of Education has announced her candidacy for state superintendent.

Citing Oklahoma’s continuing teacher shortage and declining education rankings from outlets such as U.S. News & World Report and WalletHub, Jennettie Marshall announced at a Friday afternoon press conference in the Greenwood Cultural Center that she will run for state superintendent in 2026.

“We must put in a collaborative effort to get leadership who is willing to stand for the citizens of Oklahoma,” she said. “Who is willing to stand for what is right?
