About 70% of Tulsa single-family residences are enrolled in EMSAcare, and for those that aren’t, August is the month to do so.
EMSA stands for Emergency Medical Services Authority , the statewide emergency ambulance transport provider that has been available in the Tulsa area since 1977. Households sign up for EMSAcare by paying $5.45 a month as part of their city water bill.
The fee covers all out-of-pocket costs, including co-pays and deductibles, for emergency ambulance transports to a hospital emergency room for all permanent residents of the household.
Here’s how it works: EMSA bills Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance or another third-party payer. If the patient is uninsured, EMSA covers the full cost of eligible emergency transport.
