CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Shedeur Sanders made his Cleveland Browns starting debut on Aug. 8 . It was in a preseason game at the Carolina Panthers, but it still marked his first NFL game starting at quarterback .
Sanders , the fifth-round pick in April's draft , was expected to play as many as 50 plays in the Browns ' preseason opener in Carolina, according to what coach Kevin Stefanski said on the team's radio network.
Tyler Huntley, whom the Browns signed to provide another quarterback body specifically for this game, was expected to eventually replace Sanders. Huntley is expected to play the duration of the game.
