ANACONDA, Mont. — Michael Brown, who is suspected of shooting and killing four people at the Owl Bar in Anaconda, has reportedly been taken into custody, according to the Lewis and Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Leo C. Dutton confirmed Brown’s arrest and that he is alive.

Brown is suspected of opening fire at the Owl Bar, killing a bartender and three patrons. Deputies said that he then fled, abandoning a stolen pickup near Garrity Mountain before escaping into the foothills of the Anaconda Range.

The 45-year-old military veteran allegedly entered the Owl Bar on 3rd Street around 10:30 a.m. Aug. 1 and carried out the shootings. Investigators believe Brown lived in a house next door to the bar, was a regular there and likely knew his victims. Relatives and friends say he suffered
