Texas Department of Transportation officials are seeking public input on proposed improvements to the Grand Parkway.
The $157 million project, which will be funded by toll road revenues, aims to improve the Grand Parkway from I-10 West to Hwy. 290, TxDOT Public Information Officer Leo Flores said. It includes adding one main lane in each direction, resulting in three northbound and three southbound lanes.
Why it matters
Flores said the improvements are intended to address growing congestion levels, as this section of the roadway has exceeded its capacity to support a steady flow of traffic, which obligates TxDOT to look at ways to mitigate heavy traffic as a part of a 2009 agreement with the seven counties that make up the Grand Parkway.
