Harrisburg Mayor Wanda Williams will announce on Monday an $8 million investment in the 2025 Affordable Housing Development Fund, aimed at increasing safe, quality, and affordable housing options throughout the city.

The one-time investment comes from the $47 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding Harrisburg received . Previously, the city spent $15.6 million on backfilling lost revenue, emergency HVAC repairs, and extending retention bonuses to police and firefighters.

The affordable housing development fund was created to address the housing crisis and ensure all Harrisburg residents have “dignified living spaces” regardless of their income.

“We are taking bold action to support the kind of housing development that meets the real needs of our community,” said Williams. “
