Vicki Banks sat quietly in a chair as her attorney, Roderick White, spoke with passion about the death of Banks' husband, 69-year-old Larry Darnell Banks.

"We should all be, quite frankly, pissed off," White said. "I, as a former soldier as well, am pissed off that a soldier, an honorably discharged soldier, lost his life in circumstances like this where all they had to do, where they had, was fill up their responsibility to make their store safe. Larry Banks was killed on July 27 when a front corner section of the Family Dollar Store at 37th Street and Broadway Boulevard collapsed on top of him.

His widow filed a lawsuit Aug. 4 against Family Dollar Stores of Missouri LLC, Family D
