SHREVEPORT, La. -- A Shreveport man has been arrested in connection with a fire that destroyed a house Sunday.

Justin Emerson, 34, was booked into the Shreveport City Jail for aggravated arson and possession of a stolen firearm.

The structure fire happened just after 1 a.m. in the 2500 block of Highland Avenue. It was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.

Emerson was detained at the scene.

A joint investigation by the Shreveport Police Department and the Shreveport Fire Department determined that Emerson was allegedly responsible for intentionally setting the fire. He was also found to be in possession of a stolen firearm at the time of his arrest.
