Gilbert Town Council voted unanimously Aug. 5 to increase ambulance billing fees, join the Greater Phoenix Regional Rate Group and begin charging for consumable supplies used during patient transport.
The plan, presented through documents from Executive Assistant Fire Chief Bob Badgett, aligns Gilbert’s ambulance rates with those of other municipalities across Maricopa County.
Membership in the regional rate group will streamline future adjustments by allowing automatic annual updates in accordance with Arizona Department of Health Services policy.
In addition to the rate alignment, the Gilbert Fire & Rescue Department will implement a fee for consumables — items such as medical supplies used during transport — which is permitted under the town’s Certificate of Necessity from ADHS that
