Friendly’s Ice Cream is recalling a limited number of its Cookies & Cream cartons after a labeling error led to undeclared allergens, according to a company announcement published by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Aug. 6 .
A total of 324 cartons of 48-fluid-ounce Cookies & Cream ice cream were mistakenly packaged in Friendly’s Vanilla Bean containers with Cookies & Cream lids. Because of the mismatch, soy and wheat were not listed among the ingredients — a risk the company says could lead to “a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction” in people with allergies.
A Friendly’s spokesperson shared the FDA announcement with TODAY.com in response to a request for comment.
