HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) - Two suspects were arrested and charged in connection to an early Friday morning shooting in Hattiesburg that sent a man to the hospital in critical condition.

Melvin Manassa, 23, was arrested and charged with a count of attempted first-degree murder.

Quantazia Roberts, 23, of Hattiesburg, was arrested and charged with a count of accessory after the fact for attempted first-degree murder.

The Hattiesburg Police Department said officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 200 block of Martin Luther King Avenue about 12:50 a.m. Friday.

Upon arrival, investigators learned an altercation among individuals escalated, resulting in shots being fired.

One adult male victim sustained a gunshot wound as a result.
