BROOKHAVEN, Miss. (WLBT) - On Aug. 8, Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch publicly announced the sentencing of Austin Christopher Stephenson of Brookhaven.

Through an investigation conducted by the Attorney General’s Office, alongside the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police Department - with whom the case originated - and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department, Stephenson was found in possession of child sexual abuse material.

Stephenson was sentenced to 40 years in prison, with five years to serve day-for-day without the possibility of parole and five years of supervised probation in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

Upon release, Stephenson will be required to register as a sex offender.
