CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Maine — A New Gloucester man who served time for a rape conviction three decades ago is going back to prison after being convicted of sex crimes against a child.
Richard Morrison, 66, was sentenced to two years in jail and four years probation in Cumberland County Court Friday.
Morrison was convicted of felony assault and sexual contact with a minor after pleading guilty to both charges.
State prosecutors said Morrison began sexually assaulting his biological granddaughter when she was 13-years-old. Prosecutors said his granddaughter first confided in a friend and then later talked to a member of her church about the experiences of being sexually assaulted by Morrison.
