ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - Louisiana State Treasurer John Fleming is gearing up for next year’s midterm elections as he challenges Senator Bill Cassidy in 2026.
Treasurer Fleming is one of three Republican candidates running for Cassidy’s seat in Congress.
In an interview with KALB, Fleming shared some of his viewpoints and campaign promises ahead of the election. He said he is glad the primary election in April 2026 is a closed party primary.
Fleming believes it is important that Republicans get the “most conservative and the most America-first conservative” to run against a Democratic candidate in the general election. He feels Cassidy has proven himself not to be aligned with the Republican Party.
