JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) - The Johnson City Commission approved a 10-year agreement with Flock Safety to implement Flock Safety's Safe City Project platform.
"We've already started installations," said Captain Mike Adams with the Johnson City Police Department Criminal Investigation Division. "So, you'll start noticing more and more of those going up within the city."
JCPD has installed 11 license plate reader cameras (LPR) across Johnson City, with many more to go.
"Our plan is to install 145 of those license plate readers throughout the city, and 145 of those PTZ cameras or Pan-Tilt-Zoom cameras throughout the city," Adams said.
The Flock cameras are designed to alert officers if it has located a vehicle description or license number that has been registered as stolen.
