Meeting Scheduled as Deadline on Conflict Expires

President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin are scheduled to meet next week in Alaska to discuss a potential end to the three-year conflict in Ukraine. The meeting, the first in-person session between the two leaders since Trump returned to the White House, was announced by Trump on Truth Social.

“The highly anticipated meeting between myself, as President of the United States of America, and President Vladimir Putin, of Russia, will take place next Friday, August 15, 2025, in the Great State of Alaska,” Trump wrote. “Further details to follow. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
