JONES COUNTY, Ga. — A former Jones County High School football coach was sentenced Friday to five years probation for evasion of income tax.
According to the District Attorney, Mike Chastain drew thousands of dollars from the high school football team's booster club.
T. Wright Barksdale, District Attorney for the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit T. Wright Barksdale says Mike Chastain broke the community's trust.
"A guy that a lot of people looked up to quite frankly took advantage of a lot of different folks, and it impacted the kids that play on our football team," Barksdale said.
In the courtroom Friday, Barksdale said Chastain drew $700 a month from the booster club's account without their approval.
Barksdale said this went on for nearly three years, and Chastain drew more than $24,00
