The Atlanta Braves starting rotation has been in a state of unimaginable flux for most of this season and one of the guys who has been part of that flux has been Chris Sale. Sale was having a solid season and had seemingly started to find his groove in June. That was when he pitched into the ninth inning against the Mets with a shutout. He made a diving play near the end of that game and it was later revealed that he had fractured his ribcage in the process.
June 18 was the last time that we saw Chris Sale on a big league mound and it appears that he’ll be coming back around two months later. The Braves announced that Sale will be starting a rehab stint on August 12 with the Gwinnett Stripers in Triple-A, as they’ll be hosting Cincinnati’s Triple-A affiliate in the form of the Lousville B
