The New England Patriots honored the greatest NFL quarterback of all time on Friday, unveiling a statue of Tom Brady outside Gillette Stadium in Foxborough.
Brady — who retired following the 2022 season — had a legendary 20-season career in New England, winning six Super Bowls while leading one of the greatest dynasties the sport has ever seen. Now, his image is immortalized outside the Patriots' stadium.
While speaking to the crowd at his statue reveal, Brady couldn't help but take the opportunity to pick at some old wounds. During his speech, he offered a hilarious troll of New York Jets fans, stating that they now have something to throw beers at when they're leaving the stadium early.
"But in the end, this statue isn't just for Pats fans," Brady said. "It will also give Jets fans something to throw their beers at as they leave the stadium every year. Probably in the second quarter. Maybe the third."
Brady has certainly caused quite a bit of suffering for Jets fans over the years. Playing their division rivals twice a year, New England held a 31-8 record against New York during Brady's career there.
There's no love lost for Brady among the rest of the AFC East, and now, the future first ballot Hall of Famer is simply rubbing salt in the wound.
