YAKIMA, Wash. – A partnership between Yakima Valley Habitat for Humanity and West Valley High School has culminated in the completion of the " Playhouses with a Purpose " program.

This year-round initiative involved students from construction and welding classes at West Valley High building two playhouses. Teacher Stephen Matczak encouraged his students to actively participate.

"I try to encourage them to get out of their seats and let's get to work."

Matczak highlighted the dual purpose of the program.

"The most important aspect of this project is giving back to the community. But individually, it's just beneficial for students to understand how to fix and repair anything," he said.
